2017-2018 SVQG Raffle Quilt
Made by members of the Shenandoah Valley Quilters Guild
“Reaching for the Stars”
The quilt is 85” X 97.” It took 60 hours to quilt all the pebbles that make up the background, other quilting designs, and ruler work. If you look closely, you can see silhouettes of stars in the background. Also, corners of the Mariner’s Compass consist of silhouette directions. (NW, NE, SW, SE). The constellations were embroidered onto the top and represent five points of an imaginary star. Look very closely and there is another outline of a large star in the background. Start at the top center and follow the double lines and end at the bottom corners. There are about 1200 crystals to give the appearance of twinkling stars in the night sky. Quilted by Connie Broy.

Tickets will be on sale at the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo in Fredericksburg, VA on October 5,6, and 7 2017, and at all SVQG meetings until June 2018.
