Service

The purpose of the Guild shall be to promote the various aspects of the art of quilting, to educate and develop the skill levels of the members, and to make a contribution to the Community, relative to quilt making.

By-Laws of the Shenandoah Valley Quilters Guild

SVQG has supplied hundreds of quilts to the three local hospice organizations since 2011. The joy and comfort the quilts have provided to those in need has been miraculous.  In addition, in 2014, 30 quilts were donated to Winchester Church of God for foster children attending a summer camp. We use leftover fabric scraps and batting to make pillows for cats and dogs at the local animal shelters.

The charity service at SVQG is accomplished by a team effort. One person may sew the quilt top while another will quilt it and yet another person binds it. In our most recent service year of August 2013 to July 2014, we gave out 179 quilts.

Our goal for members is to participate which is why the team effort works for those not wanting to commit to make a whole quilt.
